Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I received Havrix vaccines one month apart at my family doctor s offe 3 years ago. A travel doctor recently consulted said the second was invalid because it needed to be given 6 montyhs apart. My first doctor says studies show an accelerated schedule can be used, if given a least 3 weeks apart. Do I need a third dose?
Hi...the approved vaccination schedule is usually 6 months apart. This is deemed as approved after a large number of researches have proven so. If I were you treating doctor I would test your antibodies for the Hepatitis A virus and if the antibodies are sufficient I would not give vaccine, if they are not in protective range, I will give the vaccine again. Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health. Dr. Sumanth MBBS., DCH., DNB (Paed).,
