Is Total Knee Replacement Advised With LDH Level - 168 (approx)?
Hi, This is in reference to my mother who is 75 years old. She has severe knee joint problem ( arthritis and osteoporosis). She is planning to get total knee replacement done. Her last blood work showed high LDH approx 168. Her bp varies from 148/99 one day to 102/78 another. She takes medication for bp. Please advise
I have studied your case and I can assure you that high LDH is not a problem in knee replacement . Only point of concern is cardiac health and blood pressure. So if your blood pressure is under control and there is no problem with heart then she can safely plan for knee replacement surgery. If she is having high blood pressure or poor heart status then I would recommend you to take a cardiologist's advise and get these things treated.
Total knee joint replacement patient find good difference in mobility after joint replacement. So you can do TKR after consulting joint replacement surgeon, there will not be any problem probably.
Post operative Physiotherapy like ultrasound and tens will help, along with knee exercises for early recovery. For raised LDL medications like statins can be started consulting your doctor. You can go for TKR surgery after physician fitness there is no problem due to raised LDL.
