Is Train Travel During 34th Week Of Pregnancy Safe?
Hello Dr. I am 14 weeks 3 days pregnant. I have been prescribed Wysolone 10mg with Loprin 75 mg since 17.03.2015. Dr. says this needs to be continued. I am bit worried since Wysolone is a steroid. 1. How long this needs to be continued? I have history of one missed abortion in my last pregnancy. 2. For delivery I need to travel by train. My office permits 6 wks prior to EDD. Will it be safe to book tickets in my 34th week?
Corticosteroids are administered in pregnancy for their immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory effects. Use of low-dose aspirin — 60 to 100 milligrams (mg) daily — hasn't been found to be harmful during pregnancy and is sometimes recommended for pregnant women with recurrent pregnancy loss, clotting disorders and preeclampsia. So, in order to prevent missed abortion and other causes of pregnancy loss, Wysolone and Loprin are recommended by your gynecologist.
Surely she would have taken adverse effects of steroid into consideration and the therapeutic effects outweigh the adverse effects in your case. Regarding train journey during your 34th week of pregnancy, it is safe to travel by train as there won't be much disturbance. Make sure to be careful while getting down the train. Take the lower berth.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
