Is Transient Ischemic Attack A Symptom Of Alzheimer S Disease?
Hello, My mother is 90 years old and has Alzheimer s. She had an episode last evening while the caregiver was still there of her eyes rolling back and slumping to one side of her body. the caregiver and I think she had a silent stroke or a TIA...she recovered immediately. While at the doctors office today, he said the TIA was a symptom of the Alzheimer s.....Is that correct?
Hello I strongly disagree with her doctor. This definitely sounds like a TIA and by definition that's not a stroke, just a threatened one. TIA's are not caused per se by Alzheimer's. Were I her doctor I would get an MRI of her brain, carotid Doppler flow studies, an EKG and an echocardiogram to look for possible causes of her TIA
