my brother has been diagnosed with IgA nephropathy and he is 19 years old, his BP is 140/80 and is currently prescribed by Amlogard 5mg, arkamin and omnacortil 40mg with fish oil. Is transplantation advisable for him as his creatinine is 5.9 and blood urea is 182.
Hello Thanks for query .Your younger brother who is just 19 years old has been diagnosed to have IgA Nephropathy with his serum creatinine being 5.9
IgA Nephropathy is a progressive disease that progresses very fast and 10 years survival rate is reported to be less than 60 % .And more over results of the medical treatment are not encouraging .
In view of his age being just 19 years I would suggest you to get Renal Transplant done .
