Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I had a laparoscopy done on Nov. 14 and I had my appendix removed and my doctor said that there was two areas of questionable tissue that were removed (not sure where). They went in because I have endometriosis and werent sure why medication wasnt helping my symptoms. Anyhow, as thanksgiving is coming up my family was planning an 8-10 hour trip up to ohio on this coming tuesday Nov. 25. Inwent out today and we were in the car for maybe an hour and I am not feeling so great. Would taking that trip be a terrible idea? How long is it generally advised not to take long driving trips after surgery? Thanks in advance!
IN short: If you are not feeling well, you should take rest
Explanation: For major surgeries at least three months of rest is advised. For laparoscopy in my opinion you may require at least 15-20 days of rest depending on your physical condition and complications of surgery. So, it is better to consult your doctor who operated, if you are travelling for long. Who knows better than your operating surgeon. Good luck.
