Is Travelling Safe While Suffering From Pneumonia?

My two year has been diagnosed with pneumonia, we are scheduled to travel to the Dominican Republic two days for now. He has just started antibiotics, is it recommended we not travel? We also have a six month old infant that is not currently showing signs of sickness, !but that has had much exposure to my son.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pneumonia is a serious and potentially fatal lung infection. So far as I am concerned, I will recommend putting air travel on hold because the changes in air pressure in the cabin and the resulting reduced oxygen levels can create serious consequences

Although the antibiotics have been started, you should wait till your kid is well ahead in recovery and can not infect other passengers.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
