Is Typhoid, Suggestive With Sore Throat And Recurring Fever?
my son had been suffering from fever and sore throat with no coughing. He was administered Azithromycin 200mg once for three days. after 4 days he had a recurrence of fever which didnt rise more than100.4 again the same antibiotis is being given the widal test shows his s-typhi O 1/30 (+) and 1/60 (+) S typhi H is negative is he having typhoid? what is the way to get sure?
Report of Widal of positive in 1:30 and 1: 60 is actually not positive for typhoid if done within 7 days of fever. This should be repeated after 7 days to see for actual report and the best way is to go for blood culture and sensitivity so that a proper diagnosis may be made.
Fever can be due to many a reasons like your son has sore throat which in turn could have been due to sinusitis and so on hence I would advise to consult a Pediatrician for clinical review, examination and send fresh set of investigations. This will give the proper diagnosis and thus proper treatment.
Till then, continue the treatment given by the Doctor, give plenty of oral fluids and a soft bland diet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
