Is Typhoid Vaccination Advisable After Consumption Of Alcohol?

I was suppose to take my last typhoid vaccine pill around 7:00 PM this evening and 1 hour before a meal. I forgot and went out to dinner and drank alcohol. Can I still take the medication if I wait for 2 hours after the meal I had. I ended my eating around 10:30pm. So thinking I could take it after mid-night at 12:30am.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Avoid eating anything for at least 1 hour after you take a capsule. Do not drink alcohol within 2 hours after you take a typhoid vaccine capsule.

Alcohol can damage the capsule and could make the vaccine ineffective. if your blood alcohol level is 40 mg/dL, it will take about two hours to metabolize the alcohol. so it depends on the amount of alcohol you have used.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
