General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Since the pregnancy test is negative, it is highly unlikely that it could be false negative. About the irregular periods and the dark staining during periods, the cause can be known only with a thorough clinical history and few blood investigations if needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hasini, General & Family Physician
