Is Uric Acid Level In Blood Of 9.9 A Cause For Concern?

Hello , I have pain in my arms and legs from past few weeks. I go through uric acid blood test. It comes to 9.9 where the upper limit is only 6.9. I really got shocked. Last year it is on borderline i.e 6.8 . I want to know is it too much dangerous, is it enough to cause gouts or some thing like that, is it curable ? Thanks and Regards, Karan

Hello dear
I understand your concern
Uric acid 9.9 mg /dl suggests high and called hyperuricemia/gout.
There is two type of treatment
-Treatment of acute attack
- Long term management
1. Acute attack:
Tablet diclofenac/ibuprofen
Tablet colchicine
If pain is severe then corticosteroid can be used
Apply ice pack on the joint to reduce pain, swelling and inflammation

Long term prevention and treatment:
Avoid diet like red meat, offal, coffee and dark fish (mainly non veg food)
Reduce weight
Avoid alcohol/bear
Take more yogurt and buttermilk
Drug
Allopurinol: once a day to reduce uric acid
Aim is to reduce the uric acid less than
