Is Uric Acid Value Of 8.1 A Cause For Concern?

My dr. Prescribed me zurig 40mg each a day for two weeks in order to cure kidney stone. Its been 5 days since i completed my dosage of two weeks. Now i am feeling stiffness and a sort of uncomfortable feeling in my left knee. The present value of uric acid is 8.1. I dont know its past value, as the doctor had not told me to check my uric acid initially. Kindly suggest me.

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, you seem to be having uric acid issues or hyperuricemia before starting the medicine as that might have triggered the renal stones as well.

Also the flare can result initially with starting uric acid excretion promotional drugs as it can move it through blood for excretion to kidneys.

Anti-inflammatory drugs like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful in that case. Long term febaxostat etc may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
