General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
It is generally recommended to avoid alcohol intake for at least 24 hours before a urinalysis, as alcohol can affect the results. However, a small amount of alcohol consumed the evening before should not significantly affect the results of routine urinalysis for kidney function. It's still a good idea to let your healthcare provider know that you consumed alcohol the night before, just in case.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Yes, it's okay to do before drinking. Urine test itself can detect alcohol up to 48 hours, blood urea and serum creatinine will tell more about kidneys along with urinalysis.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
