Is Urine Infection In An Infant A Cause For Concern?

I have girl baby who is 45 days old. She's cries while having feed and while passing urine. When urine sample was examined, it showed infection which has epithelial cells 10-12 cells\hpf and puss cells 8-10 cells\hpf. Is this a severe or normal infection ?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The urinary tract infection cannot be labelled as normal or severe on the basis of pus cells and epithelial cells.
A urine culture needs to be done to isolate the infectious bacteria followed by drug sensitivity.
Drug sensitivity is an investigation wherein the most appropriate drug is selected against the causative bacteria.
The urinary tract infection can thus be treated with appropriate and most effective antibiotic.

Thanks and take care
