Is Urine Protein Level Of 50 A Cause For Concern?

My son had HUS. His lab set of lab work came back that the protein level in his urine was 50. He just finished up a round of amoxicillin for a cold. Until this his blood work was doing good. Could the antibiotics have had an affect on his lab work?

Hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS) is a group of blood disorders characterized by low red blood cells, acute kidney failure, and low platelets.

For a random urine sample, normal values are 0 to 20 mg/dL. For a 24-hour urine collection, the normal value is less than 80 mg per 24 hours. The urine protein level of 50 is showing more than 2 fold increase.

It might not have been affected by intake of antibiotics like amoxacillin. Kindly consult Urologist for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
