Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have swelling in my jaw don't know why. I use tobacco. yesterday I consultant with a physician and I was informed that there is nothing to worry. But he told me apply Zytee gel . I have some doubt about this cream. Am I have any kind of big issues? Please help
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain swelling in jaw can be due to number of causes like dental abscess/tooth abscess secondary to tooth infection, Salivary Gland swelling due to either infection or clogged ducts.. It can also be due to Cellulitis or facial space infections.. If can also be due to allergic reaction.. If it is under the jaw it can be due to swollen lymph nodes.. As it seems to be acute swelling it does not seems anything serious and if it is out of above causes it can be treated well.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations depending on suspected cause can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly. As far as Zytee gel is concerned it is painkiller gel containing Choline Salicylate and you can apply as advised as it is not harmful.. As of now you can do cool compresses over the swelling and take Ibuprofen to relieve inflammation and pain..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
