Is Using Brazilian Wax On Facial Skin Safe While Using Cefadroxil?
I m 23, 119, and 5 ft. I recently been prescribed cefadroxil to treat acne. I m taking 500 mg twice a day and was wondering if this antibiotic will make my skin sensitive? I get a Brazilian wax once a month and was wondering if it will damage my skin if I continue with these wax appointments while taking the mediciation
Hi. As per your case history of Acne. My treatment advice-. 1. Avoid sun-exposure and use a good sunscreen lotion with spf more than 30. 2. Avoid waxing done as there are chances of wax induced folliculitis and acne. 3. Avoid diet like fast food and outside made dairy products as it may increase acne. 4. Use a good deep cleansing face-wash like Acwash twice daily. Apply clindamycin phosphate gel twice daily on acne lesions. 5. Cefadroxil is least effective in acne. Antibiotics like doxycycline, minocycline and azihtromycin are more effective. They can be taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hi. As per your query of using Brazilian wax my advice is- 1. Cefadroxil is usually a safe antibiotic, it is not photosensitive as such. So it safe to go for waxing. 2. Only advice before wax is to get it done firstly on small are, maybe behind ears to check sensitivity of wax on your skin. If skin remains normal then you can go for complete face treatment.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
