Is Using Mesh Safe Option To Treat Hernia Post Appendix Surgery?
After after appendix surgery I noticed a hard lump, it grew and grew until I returned to my surgeon. Hernia... The size of an orange after a CT scan. From the outside it is as big as a small football. Surgeon will use mesh . Is mesh always used? Plus what kind of down time should I expect? I am female 63 yrs. this will be my 6th admonial surgery.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. It appears from the description that you have undergone quite a few abdominal surgeries. This would have weakened the abdominal wall muscles leading to appearance of hernia. Surgical mesh repair would be a good option for you to undergo as mesh would provide reinforcement and strength to the abdominal wall reconstruction for the best long-term outcomes in most situations. Hence, kindly go ahead with the advise as given by your treating Surgeon. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
