Is Using Xanax For Long Period Safe?

doctors have been prescribing xanax to me for over twenty years, now I feel that my immune system has had enough, the more I take, the more I need to sleep, by the way, I use this to sleep, my doctor knows this, any advice will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Xanax contain alprazolam and is used as anti – anxiety medicine and for insomnia. Alprazolam may be habit-forming. Misuse of habit-forming medicine can cause addiction and poisoning due to overdose. Do not drink alcohol while taking Xanax. This medication can increase the effects of alcohol. It also causes birth defects in baby if taken during pregnancy. It also affects your physical performance because of it sedation causing effect. Drowsiness can cause accident if you are driving vehicle. Its common side effects are memory problem, confusion, hallucination, agitation and convulsions etc.
Advice
1.     Get rid of this medicine gradually
2.     Avoid tea & coffee in evening & night
3.     Avoid alcohol and smoking especially in night
4.     Exercising for at least 30 minutes per day can improve your sleep
5.     Avoid foods you may be sensitive. Sensitivity reactions can cause excess congestion, gastrointestinal upset, bloating and gas. This disturbs your sleep.
