Is Vaginal Spotting Harmful During The First Trimester Of Pregnancy?
Hi doctor. ..am running my 3rd week pregnancy now. Am having bad cough fro last Thursday 11th Feb 2016 and today I spotted blood spot while wiping in tissue and after 5 min it's brown stick stuff. Is it safe. Is my baby safe? And as suggested by Doctor I just had 5ml of Romin cough syrup. Please confirm if it's safe. Eagerly awaiting your answer. God bless you.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.. Yes vaginal spotting could be very bad sign during the first trimester of pregnancy. It means a threatening miscarriage. However, slight spotting is not a confirmation of miscarriage. I don't think the cough syrup should be responsible for it. About 25% of all pregnancies end in this way. In some cases miscarriage is even complete when a patient reaches a gynaecologist. I would advised to consult a gynaecologist and further testing in the form of trans vaginal ultrasonography or normal ultrasound is advised. If miscarriage has not taken place some medications would be given to you prevent it in future.
Refer to a gynaecologist Hope this information helps Good luck
