Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is vertigo a side effect of Eliquis, I had an ablation done in June of 2015, was on Eliquis until the procedure, afterwards I was taken off of it. 4 days after the ablation I had severe vertigo. Was hospitalized. It was horrible. During the time I was off the Eliquis, no vertigo. Came down again with a-fib 8 months later.hospitalized again and put back on Eliquis.woke up on Saturday with horrible vertigo again. Disoriented, room spinning, throwing up eye sensitivity. Just wondering is Eliquis is the problem. Can t get in to see my cardioligist until April 8 2016
I can understand your concern. Eliquis does cause vertigo as a common side effect in patients taking them. As you experienced vertigo while you were taking it and did not experience it while you were off it makes it more of a reason to believe that it is a side effect of this medicine only and nothing else is wrong.
You might have already visited your cardiologist by now but all it needs for curing is to decrease the dose of this medicine or change the group of medicine for you.
I hope this information helps. Thank you for trusting HCM. Take care.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
