Hi. Iam Rober Labib 32 years old i had vitiligo 8 years ago. it was spread at my hands only. i took many topical medicens. Recently two days ago, i took a pulsed dye laser session on my hands. i want to ask is this the most effective way to treat my vitiligo as my doctor said?.
Vitiligo is a acquired pigmentation. Disease, the most effective monotherapy include a mid- to super-potent topical steroid (such as betamethasone or clobetasol) applied twice daily to the skin.
Alternatives:
- Include Tacrolimus 0.1% or Calcipotriene 0.005% twice daily topical treatment
- Narrow band ultraviolet light, specifically UVB (NBUVB) therapy three times weekly
- Laser treatment have also been used successfully to depigment small areas of vitiligo
Stay indoors when sunlight is at its peak, use sun protection cream SPF 50+, and sun protective clothing. It is difficult to say which is the best therapy because different individuals respond differently to treatment. You should begin doing therapies step by step to assess which is the best for you.
Hope I have answered your query. Ask me if you have more questions.
