Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. The
head injury which causes
severe headache with nausea or vomiting may be dangerous head injury. Occurrence of vomiting after head injury must never be taken lightly. It should be evaluated by doctor in emergency. After evaluation, CT head may be advised to rule out
fracture or brain bleed. Fracture is usually managed by medical treatment while brain bleed may require surgical evacuation.
If your husband is conscious, oriented and responding normally, it is good for him. If you have not given any painkiller, you can give him
Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription. If he gets relief and no further deterioration, you can wait.
But if no relief, he develops any of below mentioned symptoms then do not wait, consult ER as soon as possible
: vomiting
: loss of consciousness
: decreasing consciousness
: fits
: bleed through nose/ear/throat
: onset of new focal deficit
Meanwhile at home, you can
: Avoid pressure at injury site
: Keep head at higher level than chest
Hope it will help him. Still no relief,
consult doctor.
Thanks.
Take care.
