Is Wine Consumption Safe While On A Nephrostomy Tube?
Thank you. I have a nephrostomy tube in my left kidney due to hydronephrosis. I am VERY healthy otherwise. I am scheduled for a nephrectomy of the left kidney in late April. This all occurred due to a surgical error post hysterectomy :( I would like to have a glass of red wine with a friend and needless to say, am a bit fearful... thoughts on a glass of wine ?

I do not recommend use of wine at this point as
- Alcohol will interfere with the anesthesia going to be administered for nephrectomy.
- Alcohol gives diuresis effect, which may hamper kidney function in existing hydronephrosis stage.
