Is Wrist Swelling Being Treated With Ice Correct?

Hi, I am a 71 year old male. I bent my wrist back carrying a heavy object. Now I have a purpleish swelling inside my wrist which has decreased in size and colour after i put ice on it for about 10 minutes. Just want to be sure if what i have done is okay and if I need to do anything else.

Hi
Welcome to healhcaremagic
After going through your query I concluded that you have wrist injury. For this you were icing it. It is Ok. It is nothing wrong in it. It's further treatment is to get it x rayed to exclude fracture. Till then it's treatment is rest to joint by splinting it and analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief. Vitamin B and C is helpful in recovery. You can discuss with your Doctor about it. Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to help you.
Wishing you a good health. Take care.
