all asthma meds I have taken cause a lot of nervous side effects. I used to experience bad tightness in chest and would sometimes cough till I passed out. Since I have been taking xanax on a regular basis I have had no tightness in chest and have never had a severe coughing attack since. I take Duhlera and spirva daily and 3 1m xanax a day and no emergency inhalers. Only side effect from xanax is it causes me to slober a bit but I never get sleepy from them. I ve been on same dosage of xanax for a few years An allergy doctor said I have anxiety induced asthma. I m 50yrs old weigh about 220 and very healthy other than this. I would like more xanax than endure side effects of albuterol or more inhalers. Am I mistaking in my thoughts
Anxiety and extreme emotion can potentially cause an acute asthmatic attack.
If you only notice asthmatic episodes when you are anxious or stressed then it is possible that this is your trigger.
If you can reduce your anxiety levels then it is possible to also reduce your asthmatic attacks. If the anti anxiety meds are helping to control your anxiety and therefore your asthma, then you can continue them.
I hope this helps
