Hello,
Thank you for your question and welcome to Health Care Magic. I read carefully your query and I understand your concern.
Yellow semen can be attributed to many things and most of them little to worry about because it usually has natural and benign causes. The most common causes of yellow semen at your age are urine, diet and infection.
With taking in consideration your age, my first assumption would be infection. Other signs that the yellow semen is a result of infection include greenish tints, a foul odor, and pain in the genital area. The most common infection is
epididymitis, which is caused by
prostate infection and can be easily cured with a round of antibiotics. Other infections, such as those caused by sexually transmitted diseases (
STD) are also typically eliminated with antibiotics. In fact, the worst case scenario for a man who experiences a yellow semen color involves only a round of antibiotics.
As I mentioned yellowish color of your semen may be also due to diet which include food especially high in sulfur, like chives, onions, shallots and garlic or some medications and multivitamins.
Semen travels through the
urethra before exiting the body, and any leftover urine in the area comes out with the sperm. This is very natural and a common occurrence among many men. A sign that the yellow semen was caused by urine is the semen being a very light tint of yellow as opposed to a darker shade of yellow.
Hope I answered to your question. For further concerns, feel free to ask again.
Kind Regards,
Dr. Ina
