Itching And Redness In Lower Arm. What Could It Be?

so for the past two months my lower arm by my elbow on the bottom side has been itchy and red. It's all patchy. It's on both arms actually but the one isn't as bad as the other. If i didn't know any better i would think that it was eczema. I have never had that before and I'm not sure if that is something that can just develop all of a sudden. I have been putting lotion on it everyday sometimes several times a day and also my son had eczema when he was little and i have been putting that cream on as well. It really hasn't helped because it is still there. However some days is better then others as far as it not being as itchy and or not looking as patchy.it's really weird. any ideas of what it could be?

Thank you,
Erica

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Erica,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be due to:
1. Eczema
2. Fungal infection
3. Psoriasis
4. Contact dermatitis

Though symptomatic relief can be obtained with intake of antihistamine preparations like Allegra & topical steroid application, the underlying cause needs to be treated.
So, kindly visit a Dermatologist & get a proper clinical examination done to find the exact cause.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
