Itching, Side Effects. On Benicar. Advise?

I just found out about all the side effects of the meds Benicar. I am really experiencing most of the side effects from this medicine and am miserable with the itching and every thing that is going on. I have called my Dr. to inform him of this. Should I stop taking this meds? If so, what shall I take in place for my pressure?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello!

Thanks for the query.
Benicar contains lisinopril which is a anti-hypertensive drug.It can cause hypersensitivity reactions, renal failure, hyperkalemia, cough and itching.

If you have persistent symptoms of itching ,it is better to stop the drug and switch over to another class of anti-hypertensive like calcium channel blocker or beta blocker.

Hope this answers your query.

Thank you.
