Itchy Area On Thumb, Herpatic Whitlow. What Is It?

I have this itchy area on my thumb, doc's said about two months ago it was Herpatic Whitlow. He said it was almost gone and no treatment was necessary. He did say it may come back every couple years... Ok but its come back in the same spot twice since my appointment. I have looked at picutres of the Herpatic Whitlow and I don't think that is what it is. It is itchy not painful, there is no discoloration or skin peeling just raised bumps under the skin. I think the doctor I saw was wrong.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi, the lesion you described does not seem to be herpetic whitlow, but possibly it would be acrodermatitis.. Take short course of steroids in tappering dose. Take antihistaminics till your itch is relieved.. You may take a short coure of antibiotics, if you feel infection in the lesions.. I hope you would be alright.. Find out the cause,it may some irritant or allergen, and remove it... You will feel better..ok
