Itchy Bump On Elbow, Swelling, Arm Heaviness. What Is This?
hello, I recently had an itchy bump on my elbow (the joint ) and when I scratched the bump it started to swell minutes later and I feel a slight heaviness in my arm too. I ve had this before in the same spot and I thought it was a spider bite .This time it came out of nowhere but the swelling wasn t as severe as before. I m completely clueless? I don t have any photos because the swelling went down but it was warm to the touch and pinkish red.
Looks like you have developed a lesion of Vector dermatitis, also known as Paederus dermatitis.. Paederus dermatitis is a peculiar, irritant contact dermatitis characterized by a sudden onset of red lesions on exposed areas of the body. The disease is provoked by an insect belonging to the genus Paederus. You need to apply an antibiotic/steroid combination cream over the lesion twice a day. Take oral antihistamine like levocetrizine once a day to decrease the swelling.
Do not use any moisturizer or oils till the time the lesion heals .
