I've Been Having What I Think Is Night Terrors For

I've been having what I think is night terrors for a couple years. Yelling, screaming, pounding my fist on the door/wall. Now I can feel one coming on. It feels like my chest is on fire (this is new). It happens early in the night when I first fall asleep. I wake with a headache and feeling sick. I did talk to my doctor about it. He seemed to think it is from childhood abuse or sleep apnea. I have allergies and have some trouble breathing when I'm too congested. It's happening several times a week. I'm to the point where I'm afraid to go to sleep. What could it be?
