I've Been Wearing My Contacts Longer Than Usual. My Right

I've been wearing my contacts longer than usual. My right eye seems to be gathering a yellowish pus in corner of eye. I brushed a spiky weed today and got several barbs in thumb which swelled up and got the skin got tight and swollen. I tried to soak, remove spikes and apply antibiotic cream . Any chance two could be connected?
