I've Had A Non-painful Patchy Tongue For About A Year

I've had a non-painful patchy tongue for about a year which my doctor thought was thrush but wasn't as the thrush treatment didn't work. I haven't been back to the doctors but have since developed swollen neck glands, one papillae on the tip of my tongue is sore and looks like it's hanging off, sore gums and a cold sore. Are these all just symptoms that come with fighting off the cold sore virus or could it be linked to the patchy tongue & in fact be something else?
