I've had cataract surgery on the left eye 10 months ago, wanted mono vision distance because of golf. I got near plus had neg. And positive dysphotopsias really bad. The dr. Told me to get on line and pick out the iol I think I would like to prevent dysphotopsias and let him know. Couldn't believe what I was hearing, but I got on line and found around 5 different types that would maybe not cause this problem. Showed them to him the following week and he said he would have to look them up because not knowing anything about them. Well after 2 months not hearing from him I went elsewhere. This dr. Agreed on one of the lenses, then the day before surgery he called me and said he changed his mind. He would use one older silicone and put it in the sulcus. I was scared, but I had to trust someone. I now have distance vision, but I see the lens edge to the outside, more positive dysphotopsia. It cuts off 1/3 of my peripheral vision. I tried to tell him this but he will not accept it! Things really bother me like driving, feel like a vehicle is passing me, I look over, nothing there, makes things jump when I pass objects, plus walking into some place with lights, I get the streaks of lights go from outside across the front of the eye and it's blinding. Like someone shining a flashlight directly at you. Tried drops for pupil constriction, glasses and contacts do not help. Is there a possibility of another iol exchange that could be done. This has been a nightmare! Last thing I wanted was to do this twice.....but maybe 3!!!!! Are there any drs. That specializes in complex cases like this. I'm only 62, and I can't see myself living with this for the rest of my days. Heaven forbid when I need the other eye done. Please help. Live in Pa.
