Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I've just gotten my braces off a few weeks ago and I was told to wear my retainers for twelve hours for six months. But I've been getting pains in my incisive papilla. And yesterday I found blood on my clear retainers. They look like Invisalign but they're retainers. And I'm freaking out. Today I took out my retainers and rinsed my mouth and a lot of blood was rinsed out into the sink. And my incisive papilla felt like it was flapping a bit as I rinsed my mouth. I was wondering if this was normal? Or if I need to urgently see my orthodontist to change the mold on my retainers. I did research on the incisive papilla and it sounds important. And it says it's important for it to be round in the articles I've read. But since I've been wearing my retainers it's been feeling flat. What do I do about the bleeding and the flattening of my incisive papilla due to my retainers?
