Ketones In Urine, Had Cold At The Time Of Test. Could That Have Led To Ketones?
I am in the process of going to Air Force Officer School, but they found ketones in my urine . I don t believe I have diabetes . I am healthy and of healthy weight. They did take many blood samples and so I would think they would have seen high blood sugars in that blood test that would have signaled diabetes, but I am not sure. I did have a cold at the time of the urine test and had been exercising to get ready for training. Could all of this have led to ketones. What further tests would a urologist perform to see the causes of my ketones. Would a urologist be the person I go to?
Hello, Yes ketone in sugar ,really causes diabetes ,have you gone through the entire test for diabetes .that means calculating glycocetated haemoglobin, sugar of fasting ,before lunch after lunch ,before dinner after dinner,at 3 am if possible also check your urine routine micro .if albumin is present then go test for microalbuminuria .have check on your urineBMI .see your BP .in short you need diabetologist first then any physician ,exercise in cold does't cause ketone in urine.wishing you good health .
hello, Normally ketones are not found in urine. When ketones are found in urine, then most likely cause in general is diabetes. But high ketones can be found in other conditions also like abnormal state of nutrition like anorexia, starvation, fasting etc taking more of proteins and less of carbohydrates,as in Atkins diet. Dehydration Alcoholism etc High fever, hyperthyroidism eyc. You should consult a internal medicine specialist and get yourself examined and investigated properly. Having cold can lead to high ketones in urine. I hope it helps Thanks
