Knee Pain, Purple In Color. Did Light Running, Bending. Is This Due To Bruising?

My knees have turned purple and have been like this for 4-5 days. At night my right knee pains me if I turn certain ways causing me to wake up. Last week I did some light running and then bent down and pushed up with me knees I believe causing pain in my right and left top part of my legs (thighs). I am in my 50's. Could this just be bruising?
Thank you.-Joey N.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HELLO Joey
Purple knees are indication of bruises in the joint space or the overlying skin, you are advised to have a routine Xray done to rule out any blood collection in joint space.

Till then you are advised to avoid heavy activities like running and exercises from the affected limb.
