Knees Always Hurt. Diagnosed Malasia Patella. How To Get Relief?
My knees, always hurt, the left one more most of the time. They have hurt off and on since 9. I went to a doctor, years ago, he said the x-rays were not that bad, but at 25, I was diagnosed Condo-malasia patella, I think I spelled that wrong. I am 58 now. Do you have any suggestions, heat or ice or exercise or elevate etc.?
Hi, chondromalacia patella is softening of patella commonly diagnosed in athlets at younger ages. Avoiding squatting, climbimg, reducing pressure on knees like maintaining correct weight are the most important things. Though Physiotherapy have shown results in few patients, but not all are benefitted as the symptoms may recur. Stretching your legs and lifting them up with weight hung at the ankle/feet can help to strengthen muscles and relieve pain. This can be done for a minute or 2 , up to 10 times once, slowly increasing the time. Slowly increase the weight day by day but only till comfortable level.Heat therapy can help after an application of pain relief ointment. Hope this might help!
