Laparoscopic Incision Cauterization Done, Area Seems To Be Worsened, Advised Bacitracin And Gauze. Right Treatment?
I have a one inch laparoscopic incision cauterized today, the pa said to put bacitracin and gauze on it. I feel it looks worse now than before and she didn't prescribe oral or topical antibiotics. My concern is that I've been reading to not cover or put ointments on infected incisions . What is your opinion? Will this grey nitrate permanently stain my stomach
Sorry to hear about your problem. Such a lesion can be covered and local bacitracin is sufficient. One should not pack and close large and frankly infected wounds as they promote growth of bacteria. In your case the wound is very small and it can be covered. Also it does not require any oral antibiotics. The nitrate stain would gradually fade away.
Hoping for the best.
