Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Im 12 years old and while i was at school i banged my left knee cap on the edge of a chair and right after that i just held my knee with my hand until the pain went away, while i was doing that i noticed a bump smaller than a pea on my left knee cap, i was able to move it around a little with my finger but other than that there was no pain, but it was just annoying because i just kept poking it during class instead of paying attention. Please respond to this quickly, Thanks. P.S. i play sports and im very active.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query.
From description it seems to be soft tissue injury . Bump might be due to haematoma formation(collection of blood). You need an x-ray to rule out any bony injury. I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.Beside icing and elevating it, you can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid putting weight and rest well.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
