Hi my name is Mary and I have thyroid issue....i take 175 mcg of cynthroid 50 mcg of cytomel....i have no energy and feel as if I have Narcolepsy...NOT GOOD....cant find an endo that takes cash so a family doctor is trying but has been for years...not working.........bout five yrs ago i took a Radioactive Iodine Pill....help
Total lack of energy, sleepiness is apparently due to inadequate doses of synthroid and cytomel. Such symptoms can also be seen in depression or chronic mental stress.
However, I suggest that you get Serum TSH estimation done : if it is more than 5, then you need to increase the dose of your medicines. The target is to maintain TSH between 1-2.
So, if no prescription is required to get blood test for TSH, please get it done. If the report is more than 5, then you can safely increase the dose of synthroid to 100mcg.
However, I will still recommend that you consult your doctor, who knows what is best for you.
