Light Brown Discharge And Periods Haven't Begun After Taking Placebo Pills; HPT Negative. What Does It Indicate?

Hi I've been taking sprintec birth control and I'm on the second placebo pill on my third pack. Usually I would have started my period on the second placebo pill but today I had a small smear of light brown discharge and did not start my period. I got concerned and took two pregnancy tests and both came up negative. I haven't missed a pill and had unprotected sex earlier on in the month but it was very short and he did not come inside me, all the other times we used condoms. I'm concerned and I would like some reassurance, thank you

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
If you use the contraceptive pills according to the guidelines, there is less possibility for pregnancy.

The onset of withdrawal bleeding may differ from month to month.
The brown discharge you mentioned may be indicating onset of withdrawal bleeding.
Sometimes scanty flow can also be seen while taking pills.
So, if you still have doubt regarding pregnancy, once go for blood test for pregnancy.
If test comes negative, no need to worry.
Take care.
