Light, Brownish Black, Dry Looking Period, Pinching In Lower Abdomen. Home Pregnancy Test Negative. Suggestions?

Hi, I used to have a 30 day cycle and from January I started having a 35 day cycle. That last for 3 months. We went for a tour in April and April 21st decided to try for a baby. By that time my last periods were on 4 th April. So we had unprotected sex from 21 st to 26 th. I was expecting my periods on 9 th may if I was not preggi. But I started getting a very light periods on 5 th may and it was totally different from normal. It was dar brownish black n not heavy and dry looking. I thought it was implantation bleeding. Did a home pregnancy test on 9 th came negative. Did a quantitative blood test it came negative. But still I get pinching feelings in my lower abdominal specially right side. What can be wrong with me?

Hello and welcome to HCM,

Negative pregnancy tests definitely rule out pregnancy.
An abdominal pain localized to one side accompanied by light brown bleed may be indicative of mid cycle ovulation.
Ovulation is sometimes associated with light brown bleeding. These symptoms usually occur during mid cycle.
These symptoms are harmless and are seen in healthy menstruating women.

However, if the bleeding is prolonged or frequent or excessive, you can consult a gynecologist for clinical examination and investigations if required.

Pregnancy is associated with nausea during the initial 3 months of pregnancy.
This is called morning sickness.
Pregnancy is not associated with pain abdomen.
If you get bleeding after a positive pregnancy test, this is larming and you need to consult your doctor if these symptoms develop.

Thanks and take care
