Lightheaded, Dizziness, Sinusitis, Catarrh In Ears, Head Injury. Causes For Dizziness?
hi i have been feeling lightheaded and dizzy for the last couple of days, i had sinusitus about 2 weeks ago and still suffer from a bit of catarrh . I also have chronic catarrh in my ears. However i banged my head quite badly 5 days ago. Do you think i m feeling dizzy because of catarrh, as i have no other symptoms? Thanks

1. Yes, the most likely cause for your dizziness seems to be your sinusitis and catarrh.
2. An important part of the balance system, the labyrinth and semicircular canals are a part of the inner ear and hence toxins from the catarrh and sinusitis may cause dizziness.
3. Sinusitis itself may cause light headedness. If you have unsteadiness, it may be due to sinusitis alone. Ear ploblems tend to cause true rotatory vertigo rather than just unsteadiness.
4. You should consult an ENT Specialist and preferably a Neurolotogist since you have already banged your head 5 days ago.
5. The first step will be to locate the cause of the dizziness. A plain Sinus CT Scan, Ear Pure Tone Audiograms (PTA)and Tympanogram (Impedance Audiogram or I/A) together with tests for balance should be performed.
6.Ask your physician to start with treatment for sinusitis and ear catarrh including anti-allergic decongestants, steam inhalation and anti-dizziness drugs if necessary.

Thanks for your query.
I would suggest you to get a clinical evaluation done from your doctor.
The dizziness may be due to the head injury . A CT scan of brain may be needed along with clinical correlation.
The sinusitis and chronic catarrh of ears need to be treated as well.

Hello.
According to Ayurveda, it is a Kapha-pradhaana vyaadhi where Kapha is more.
Sinuses are nothing but cavities and they reduce the weight of your skull. When these cavities are filled with thick phlegm, the purpose is not served and inturn you feel heaviness, pain and dizziness.
I suggest you to do this simple procedure:
* Apply Vicks vaporub/Amruthanjan on your forehead, nose and on the cheeks (wherever the sinus hurts). Take 4-5 deep inhalations of it.
* To a tumbler full of hot water, add half spoon of Vicks.
* Cover your eyes with a hanky and expose your face to the steam. Cover yourself and the vessel with a blanket so that the vapors don't escape.
* Keep taking deep breaths till you start sweating. Repeat it for a week.
