Lightheadedness, Nausea. Cause?

For two days I have been having waves of lightheadedness I am not sure how else to describe it. I had the same sensation a few weeks back but it went away this time it hasn t. It seems to be relieved after a sleep but once I wake up it comes back quite soon. When the waves come over me I feel slightly nauseous. If I stay very still it is better even lying down as soon as I move even looking from side to side brings on the lightheadedness.
