Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. my 6 year old son has a plantar wart on the bottom of his foot.Last week it became very infected..big red line leading away from it and it was very painful for him. We went to a doc. and he said.Take 250 mg (I think) of ammoxicillan for 5 days. Then if it looks o.k. come in and get it burned off.(as well as another smaller wart at the same time.). I have had warts burned with liquid Nitrogen before. So I thought I knew what was going to happen. The doc pushed a Q tip full of nitrogen no to the wart and held it there for 15 seconds (doc said 15 sec. as my son was screaming uncontrollably )By the way the wart was flat and had no dead tissue on it when the doc saw it, before the nitrogen. My son cried and asked to die. He said it hurts all the way to his knee . The doc gave him advil that did nothing, He is now on the couch unable to walk. I finally gave him some prescription cough med. to calm and get him to sleep. The small wart he is not complaining about at all. I do not know what to expect. And visibly, the (I thought prior) place the infection ran away from the wart is now very visible and swollen. THANK_YOU
I see that no pain medications are being given to him, give him brufen syrup or paracetamol syrup for the pain. continue antibiotics for 5 more days. Watch out for fever. I suggest u take a second opinion also.
