Liquid Draining From Ears, Ear Blockage, No Pain, White Dry Crust, Fever. Treatment?
Hi i have a clear liquid that comes out of my ear and blocks my ear and affects my hearing , it is clear has no smell and causes no pain. It is always weepy inside the ear and onthe outside the liquid dries and turns into a white dry crust. I have had no head injury but had a slight fever 2 days ago which has gone now. I have tried eardrops for infections but they do not work.
Hi and thanks for the query, Your ear is infected. You will require an appropriate antibiotic, local antibiotic ear drops and nasal decongestant drops. Start the nasal decongestant drops ( otrivin) immediately since it is available over the counter without a prescription. Otrivin will decongest the eustachian tubes which in turn helps to control the ear infection. Follow the instructions on the crimp for using otrivin properly. Otrivin should be used 3 times a day. 10 minutes after putting the drops please do steam inhalation for 10 minutes. Do not use otrivin for more than 5 days. Keep your ears dry. Do not let water to get inside. Do not probe your ears or try to clean the ears with buds. See a doctor soon, Regards, Dr Kishori.
