Hi,
thanks for writing to health care magic.
Teething does not by itself cause loose motions. loose motions occur during teething because of the irritation the baby has and there by the baby puts every thing in mouth.
antibiotics are not required for treatment of loose motions. Only if it is associated with blood or pain while passing stool or
fever etc then only we prescribe antibiotics.
If a baby has loose motions one should monitor for
dehydration.
They include
1. Decreased skin turgor
2. Increasing thirst.
3. Sunken eyes.
4. Irritability.
5.
Drowsiness.
6. Decreasing passage of urine.
In mild dehydration only ORS is required. Any fluid that has salt and sugar can be given.
Probiotics and Zinc help in
diarrhea.
