Loose Stools, Weight Loss, No Appetite. CT Scan Shows Thick Stomach Walls. Need Opinion

My aunt is 72 years old. She has been having loose stools from since October . She has lost a lot of weight. Has no appetite . She is presently admitted to the hospital for continuous loose motion . She has taken CT scan. The stomach walls are thick. First the Doctors said that she is having chronic typhoid and then Stomach TB. Now, they have ruled out TB. Advised endoscopy. I need your advice?

Gastroenterologist 's  Response
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).

She requires endoscopy examination and biopsy of gastric wall to confirm the cause of thickened walls because it is necessary to rule out any malignancy at this age and may be duodenal biopsy to see for the cause of chronic diarrhoea

She also reuires investigations for chronic diarrhoea. So I will advise to seek the opinion of Gastroenterologist.

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. Remain in touch.

I find this answer helpful
